Five Men Prepare for Ordination to the Priesthood on May 11, 2024

On this day, the Feast of the Chair of St. Peter, we would like to introduce you to the five men who will be receiving the Sacrament of Holy Orders in May of this year. 

These five men, transitional deacons at present, will be ordained to the priesthood on May 11, 2024 and will serve the faithful of the Archdiocese of Toronto:

Rev. Mr. Marko Bušić, - Deacon Marko Bušić was born and raised in Mississauga. The youngest of six siblings, raised by parents of Croatian descent, he graduated from York University before entering St. Augustine’s Seminary. Deacon Bušić was involved in parish life through altar serving, youth groups, and folklore-music groups at his home parish of Croatian Martyrs.

Rev. Mr. Daniel Lee - Deacon Daniel Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea. His maternal grandmother was a fervent Catholic and introduced the faith to the family. Deacon Lee and his whole family were baptized at St. Andrew Kim Korean Catholic Church in Toronto during the Easter Vigil in 2000. He graduated from the University of Toronto before entering St. Augustine’s Seminary.

Rev. Mr. Ryan Nigli - Deacon Ryan Nigli was born in Etobicoke to loving and devoutly Catholic parents, who emigrated from India. He is the second of three children. His home parish is St. Ambrose, where he began altar serving at a very young age. Deacon Nigli attended Michael Power–St. Joseph High School, and later studied at King’s University College before entering St. Augustine’s Seminary.

Rev. Mr. Szymon Karol Sorbian - Deacon Szymon Sorbian was born in Toronto and is the oldest of two siblings. He studied at the University of Toronto and then worked at a corporate office in downtown Toronto. Deacon Sorbian left the workforce after a short time to pursue his call to the priesthood through studies and formation at St. Augustine’s Seminary.

Rev. Mr. Jeremy Zou - Deacon Jeremy Zou grew up in Richmond Hill and is the second of four siblings. His home parish is St. Agnes Kouying Tsao in Markham and it was there he first became an altar server and fell in love with the Mass. Deacon Zou studied at the University of Toronto before following his call to the priesthood and entering St. Augustine’s Seminary.

On Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10 a.m., the Most Reverend Francis Leo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto will ordain these five deacons with the Sacrament of Holy Orders, ordaining them as priests of the Archdiocese of Toronto. The Mass of Ordination will take place at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica in downtown Toronto and will also be available online via livestream.

We invite the Catholic community to pray for these men in their final weeks of preparation prior to their ordination. Let us also continue to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
