Christmas at St. Francis Xavier Parish

My Dear Brothers and sisters,

Throughout this Christmas season, mediated on the following words from Luke’s Gospel. They exemplify the true meaning and glory of Christmas. Remember that it is a season of true Christian Joy.  Open the doors of your homes to this joy and allow it to envelop your families.

“Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the City of David a Savior has been born for you who is Christ and Lord. And this will be a sign for you: You will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

(Lk2:10-14)

I urge you to sing Christmas carols, laugh together, pray together, and enjoy a meal. Do these things while acknowledging that the center and only reason for these festivities is the Christ Child that was born in Bethlehem!

Many thanks to all of you who have been faithful parishioners, dedicated volunteers, and parish staff for all you do even through the tough times. It is with humble joy that Fr. Ed and I, give thanks for the honor of serving as your Associate Pastor and Pastor. Thank you for all your support and prayers.

May God bless you this Christmas, may all darkness in our lives be removed by the light of Christ. May your hearts be filled with the Joy of Christ’s birth and may you be missionaries of that joy!
