27th Sunday Ordinary Time October 4, 2026

Posted : Sep-30-2026

Dear Parishioners,

In this Sunday’s Gospel, the apostles ask Jesus, “Increase our faith.” It is a prayer I suspect many of us have made. We may wish for a faith that feels stronger or more certain, especially when we are carrying worries for our families, our health, or the future.

Jesus speaks instead of faith the size of a mustard seed. He reminds us that even a small faith can bear fruit when we place it in God’s hands. A quiet prayer before a difficult conversation, the choice to forgive, a visit to someone who is lonely, or the simple act of coming to Mass when life feels heavy: these are all ways faith takes root.

As October begins, I invite you to make a little room for prayer each day. This month is traditionally associated with the Rosary, which can be a gentle place to begin. You might pray a decade on your way to work, with your family, or in a quiet moment at home. Bring to Mary’s care someone who particularly needs your prayers.

I am grateful for the many ways you live your faith here at St. Francis Xavier. May the Lord strengthen what he has planted in each of us and help us to grow together as a parish.
